ND men's soccer advances to NCAA Quarterfinals

The Notre Dame men's soccer team had to travel all the way to California its NCAA Sweet 16 game against Santa Clara.

But what a Sweet trip it turned out to be.

With the game tied at 0 in the 2nd half, the Irish scored two goals in 5 minutes to win 2-0.

Joseph Lapira scored the first goal at the 67th minute. Chris Donohue followed with a goal at the 72nd minute.

Notre Dame now faces the winner of West Virginia and Wake Forest in the NCAA quarterfinals. That game will be played Sunday afternoon.

If West Virginia wins, the Irish will host the Elite 8 game. If Wake Forest wins, the Irish will again be on the road.
