BCS a mess

If there ever was a season for a playoff.

Top-ranked Missouri needed a win over Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship to clinch its spot in the BCS Championship.

But the Tigers lost to the Sooners for the 2nd time this season 38-17, falling out of the race for the national title.

All 2nd-ranked West Virginia had to do was beat 4-7 Pittsburgh. Easier said then done when its the Backyard Brawl.

Mountaineer QB Pat White was injured early and returned late in the game.

But Pat Bostick rushed it in from 2 yards out for Pittsburgh to give them a 10-7 lead in the 3rd quarter.

And Pitt would hold on to the huge upset 13-9.

West Virginia loses out on its chances to play in the National Championship.

Ohio State, ranked 3rd in the BCS, now appears a lock for the BCS Finals despite not playing in the final two weeks of the season.

Georgia is ranked 4th in the BCS. If all things hold, they would move up to #2 and face Ohio State.

But the Bulldogs not only failed to win their conference (SEC), they didn't even win their own division.

LSU, ranked 7th in the BCS, did win the SEC with a victory of Tennessee on Saturday. The Tigers could make the huge jump into the BCS Title game.

Like Georgia, 5th ranked Kansas failed to win not only its conference (Big 12) but also its division.

6th-ranked Virginia Tech won the ACC Championship with a victory over Boston College.

8th-ranked USC clinched the Pac 10 Championship with a win over UCLA.
