When the seeds came out for the NCAA Tournament, the Notre Dame women's soccer team didn't think it would play any home games after the 1st two rounds.
But after defeating rival North Carolina in the Sweet 16, the Irish will host the NCAA Quarterfinals against Duke Friday at 7pm at Alumni Field.
Forward Brittany Bock is expected to play. Notre Dame's leading goal scorer is not practicing this week due to a hip flexor.
The junior did not practice last week either, but played against North Carolina and scored a goal.
Head coach Randy Waldrum says Bock has been a warrior this season and throughout her career. He says she is a player that will do whatever it takes to get on the field on game day.
Bock says it's hard not practicing but that she is doing everything she can in the training room to get herself ready for Friday night.
Bock says there is no way she is missing a game of this importance.
She has 15 goals this season, including two in the NCAA Tournament. The only game Bock did not score in this post-season was against Illinois in the 2nd round. She sat out that game due to the hip injury.
The Irish have not lost in more than 2 months.
