Irish Men's soccer tops Oakland in NCAAs

Defending National Player of the Year Joseph Lapira assisted on Notre Dame's 1st goal then scored its 2nd as the Irish defeated Oakland 2-1 in the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament Wednesday night at Alumni Field.

The 10th-seeded Irish will now go on the road to face 7th-seeded Santa Clara on Saturday in the Sweet 16.

Alex Yoshinaga scored Notre Dame's 1st goal with 10 minutes remaining in the 1st half.

The Irish received a 1st round bye and had not played since losing in the Big East Championship to UConn 10 days ago.
