Sprinklers extinguished a small fire this morning at the NCAA Hall of Champions but caused some water damage.

The fire prompted the NCAA to close the museum and its adjoining headquarters building in downtown Indianapolis for the day.

A fire department spokesman say the fire was apparently caused by an electrical problem. It was contained to a section of the museum's second floor called "One Shining Moment."

The area includes some interactive, electronic exhibits and displays on tennis and volleyball.

NCAA senior vice president Dennis Cryder says the sprinkler system left three inches of water in some spots, with an entrance area to a nostalgic basketball court sustaining some damage.
