Team bonding leads St. Joe Indians

There are many reasons why the St. Joe Indians have made it to the 3A Regional Championship.

There's all-time leading rusher Jordan Taylor. The senior has more than 2,000 yards rushing for his career.

He was virtually unstoppable last week in the Sectional Championship win over Northwood.

St. Joe is hoping Taylor can have another big game this week. The Indians will travel to Andrean on Friday Night at 8pm.

Another major reason for St. Joe's success has been the way the team gets along.

"They have some of the best team chemistry I've ever been around," head coach Kevin Downey says.

"I've been on a lot of good teams and I've coached a lot of good teams. These guys are really special in how much they really enjoy playing with each other and really enjoy each other as people."

"The camaraderie is great," Taylor says.

"During school, we're always joking around and laughing. We hang out not just in school, but also out of school. We're always going to each other's houses and playing video games."

Taylor says that relationship amongst the players translates to success on the field.

"When things don't go your way on the field, a lot of teams would break down and start snapping at each other," Taylor explains

"That doesn't go on. If something bad goes on, pick each other up and go on to the next play."
