A day after losing to Navy for the first time in 44 years and seeing the Irish drop to 1-8, it was pointed out to Charlie Weis that his overall record was inching closer to that of his predecessor’s Tyrone Willingham.

Weis was asked how uncomfortable that makes him feel.

“I don't know. I'm going to be here for a long time,” Weis said. “I'm going to be judged by what happens when I leave. So let's see what happens when I walk out the door.”

Pretty poignant comments from Coach Weis that he will be here for many years to come. Perhaps a statement to the naysayers out there.

Weis was asked if as an alum, he could understand the feelings other alums are having right now. He didn’t directly answer the question.

"I'm worrying about the 100 guys that are in this classroom,” Weis said. “That’s who I'm worrying about. That's who I'm responsible for. Let the rest take care of itself."

What he did say was that he can't allow himself to personally feel bad right now, but that he did sympathize with others.

"I feel bad for a whole bunch of things. I feel bad for Notre dame. I feel bad for our football team. I feel bad for Robert Hughes, I feel bad for my wife and kids. They take the loss harder than I take the loss."
