More than 50 Irish players and coaches will travel to Chicago on Friday to attend the funeral of running back Robert Hughes' brother.
Earl "Tony" Hughes died of a single gundshot wound Tuesday. Chicago police say they are searching for a person of interest.
Robert returned to campus a day following his brother's death. He practiced on both Wednesday and Thursday.
Thursday's practice appeared to be a positive distraction for Hughes, who at times broke a smile with his teammates during drills.
Charlie Weis drove Hughes back to Chicago following practice to spend time with the family.
Weis has said he will leave it up to Robert on whether to play on Saturday or not.
