"What they do, they do very well and nobody can stop it," Irish captain Tom Zbikowski says about the Navy offense. "It's been tough to stop. We have a challenge ahead of us."
What they do is run the option. And they do it so well, that they lead the nation in rushing with 343 yards on the ground per game.
Junior quarterback Kaipo-Noa Kaheaku-Enhada leads the team in rushing. If you can stop him, the Navy fullbacks are a force. And then there are the slot backs, including the very dangerous Reggie Campbell, who averages 7.5 yards per carry.
"Reggie Campbell has a lot of speed; he's a playmaker," nose tackle Pat Kuntz says. "He's been a playmaker for a long time there and he'll be tough to stop."
Irish Defensive Coordinator Corwin Brown has never had to face a system like the option before.
He is leaning on defensive line coach Jappy Oliver, who has experience with the option from his time coaching at Navy and Air Force.
Oliver has prepared the Irish for a very physical game.
