Fans of the team have to hope their squad will do better on the field against the Boston Red Sox than they did trying to sell tickets to their first-ever trip to the World Series.

The team has sold its allotment of Series tickets online -- one day after the first try fell apart as a result of a computer system failure.

Once the system got back up yesterday, the team was able to sell out the nearly 60,000 tickets it had on hand, doing the job within two and a-half hours.

On Monday, the Rockies stopped the online-only sale of tickets after about two hours when some 8.5 million hits overwhelmed the servers set up to do the job.

The team blames the crash on an "external, malicious attack."

The result was that many of those searching for tickets got computer-screen messages saying the Web site was experiencing heavy loads and were asked to wait until the Web traffic cleared.
