Penn and Central to battle in rematch

Normally opposing players would prefer to wait as long as they can to face pay in the post-season.

But not Elkhart Central's Quinzale Wiley. The senior wide receiver is excited to face the Kingsmen in the first game of sectionals on Friday night.

Wiley has good reason. Two weeks ago, his Blazers let a 20-0 lead slip away against the Kingsmen. Had Central hung on it would have ended Penn's 22-year Northern Indiana Conference win steak.

But just like they have done for the last three weeks, Penn found a way to win.

Kingsmen defensive back Brian Lares has been a key reason why. He has made a game-saving play in each game, including game-ending interceptions the last two weeks.

He believes his team is now battle tested for the playoffs.

Penn may have to play without senior center Braxston Cave for the second week in a row. Cave sat out last week's game against Adams with a high ankle sprain.

We will complete highlights of Penn and Elkhart Central on Friday Night Football on Newscenter 16 at 11 on Friday night.
