It was quite a night to be a Notre Dame hockey fan, especially if you made it out to the Joyce Center.
The third annual "Drop the Puck" Reception proved to be the biggest yet. More than 800 fans were on hand to meet players and get autographs.
They also heard from a hockey legend, as former Detroit Red Wings star Steve Yzerman was the keynote speaker.
Yzerman discussed the recent decline in popularity in hockey and how a program like Notre Dame can help improve hockey's status in the United States.
Yzerman says the Irish Icers' continued success could help boost hockey's popularity because of Notre Dame's name recognition as an institution.
