Coming off its best season in school history, the Notre Dame hockey team is dropping the puck on the new season in a big way---with the 3rd annual "Drop the Puck" Reception.
Detroit Red Wings legend Steve Yzerman will be the guest speaker.
The event begins at 5:45 at the Joyce Center with players and coaches available for autographs. Yzerman will speaka at 6:30.
The Irish Icers begin the 2007 season on Friday against Wisconsin in Dayton, Ohio.
The event is free for Notre Dame hockey season ticket holders, including Blue/Gold and Pick 6 pack ticket holders. The cost to the public is $20.00 for adults and $10.00 for youth/senior non-season ticket holders.
Tickets can be purchased through the Notre Dame ticket office, via und.com or by calling 574-631-7356. The cost of the ticket will also include admission to the Blue/Gold intrasquad scrimmage that will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The gates to the Joyce Center Field House will open at 5:30 p.m. with the Irish players available for autographs beginning at 5:45 p.m. The speaking portion of the program will begin at 6:30 p.m. when the players leave to prepare for the Blue/Gold game.
Notre Dame won its first regular season and conference championship last season. The Irish Icers followed it up with its first ever NCAA Tournament win.
Notre Dame will have to replace Hobey Baker Award Nominee David Brown. The All-American goalie was a standout in net for the last two seasons.
Junior Jordan Pearce will fill the void at goalie this season.
