Jeff Jeffers' UCLA previews from Cali

Notre Dame is the most historic football in the nation.

The Rose Bowl is one of the most historic football venues.

But the two have only matched up once---way back in 1925---in the day Knute Rockne.

The Irish didn't even play UCLA then---the game was against Stanford.

Saturday night, the Irish return to the Rose Bowl for the first time in 80 plus years.

Notre Dame is in search of its first win of the season against 4-1 UCLA.

Last season, the Irish defeated the Bruins in a thriller at Notre Dame Stadium.

With 30 seconds left in the game, Brady Quinn scrambled and found Jeff Samardzija, who juked and jived his way downfield. Samardzija charged into the endzone with a 45-yard touchdown to put the Irish up for good 20-17.
