September is Prostate Cancer Awareness month.
Prostate Cancer affects 240,000 men each year, including ESPN Analyst and former Notre Dame basketball coach, Digger Phelps.
Digger found out he had cancer in April, and last month he gave WNDU his first television interview.
On Wednesday’s he appeared on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” to talk about early detection.
“I started going twice a year, that's what saved me. Because if I waited, and I always said this, if you go in October and you're fine and something kicks in in November, you wait until next October it could have been too late,” said Digger. “If I waited till this October, it could have broken through that capsule and then it would have spread.”
Since treatment, Digger has been back to his old self.
