Cubs lose Game 1 to Dbacks

Through 6 innings, it was a pitcher's duel.

But Carlos Zambrano did not come out to pitch the 7th inning and that's when things fell apart for the Cubs.

Carlos Marmol (0-1) gave up 2 runs in the 7th, including a solo home run to Mark Reynolds as the Diamondsbacks beat the Cubs 3-1 in game 1 of the NLDS.

Zambrano gave up 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 8 in 6 innings.

His counterpart, reigning Cy Young Brandon Webb got the win. Webb pitched 7 innings and gave up 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 9.

Arizona took a 1-0 lead in the 4th when Stephen Drew hit a solo home run off Zambrano.

The Cubs tied the game in the 6th when Ryan Theriot produced a 2-out RBI to score Derrek Lee.

Alfonso Soriano was 0-5.

Game 2 is Thursday night at 10pm in Arizona.

The 5-game series shifts to Chicago on Saturday.
