Weis: Clausen will start if he's ready

If Jimmy Clausen's hip is feeling up to it, Jimmy Clausen will start on Saturday at UCLA, Irish head coach Charlie Weis said on Tuesday.

And it appears Clausen is just fine.

QB coach Ron Powlus said Clausen showed no ill effects during Tuesday's practice.

Clausen bruised his hip in Saturday's 2nd half against Purdue.

The freshman QB attempted to work through the pain, entering and exiting the game on a few occassions before finally sitting the rest of the game out.

Junior Evan Sharpley replaced Clausen and had a solid 2nd half, nearly leading the Irish all the way back.
