Incredible rally boosts the Rockies

The Colorado Rockies have assumed the mantle of baseball's Cinderella team for the playoffs. Monday night in Denver was a rally of which legends are made.

San Diego's Scott Hairston hit a two-run homer to give the Padres an 8-6 lead in the 13th inning. Both teams had enjoyed leads and both surrendered advantages.

In the 13th, the all-time saves leader in Major League Baseball history took the mound for San Diego. But Trevor HOffman never recorded an out. Matt Holiday's triple knocked in the tying run and Holiday scored on a sacrifice fly by Jamey Carroll. Holiday knocked himself out at home, flooping head-first into the dirt.

Holiday had allowed the Padres to tie the game in the 8th when he misplayed a line drive off the bat of Brian Giles but he more than redeemed himself.

The Rockies now face Philadelphia in the Divisional Series
