Clausen speaks to the media

Jimmy Clausen.

He's just a freshman---but he's one of the most recognizable names in college football.

But hearing from the Irish freshman quarterback is a rarity.

Clausen spoke to the media on Thursday for just the 2nd time since becoming a member of the Irish.

"Being able to start is a great thing for me but it's not really about me," Clausen said. "It's about this team and I'm more focused on this team and getting better and getting our first win."

The Irish are off to an 0-4 start. As a starter, Clausen is 0-3. That's a big change from his previous four years where he was a perfect 42-0.

"In high school I didn't lose a game, but that's high school. College is way different. I think it's helped me and the rest of the team realize this is a hard game and you have to come out each and every day and get better."

Clausen has already been sacked 18 times, but he says that's no big deal for him.

"Football is a physical sport. If I didn't want to play football and get hit, I should have played golf."
