If the republican primaries for the third congressional district were held today, things would be looking pretty good for incumbent representative Mark Souder, according to a new poll released from the political science department of IPFW.
According to a poll from the Mike Downs Center for Indiana Politics, Souder holds a six point lead over second place challenger Bob Thomas in the primary.
The rest of the field rounds out with Phil Troyer in third place, and Greg Dickman at a long fourth place standing.
16% of those polled said they were undecided.
Of those that voted for Obama in 2008 and are registered for the republican primary, 45 percent said they planned on voting for Bob Thomas, 25 points above the same demographic voting for Souder.
The same organization also released numbers for a poll taken on the republican primary for the vacant U.S.senate seat when Senator Evan Bayh doesn't run.
Right now, Dan Coats is the front runner sitting at 36%, followed by John Hostettler at 24% and Marlin Stutzman at 18%.
Richard Behney and Don Bates were far behind at 6% and 4%.
13% remain undecided.
Some of these results may not be available until Wednesday
