Indiana Republican Party leaders say the high cost of hosting a political convention might the biggest roadblock in bidding to host the 2012 GOP convention.

Indianapolis will also host the Super Bowl in 2012 and party officials fear that may tap out corporate donors.

Former Indiana Republican Party Chairman Mike McDaniel told The Indianapolis Star that they've been encouraged to bid for the 2012 convention. By then Indianapolis will have an expanded convention center with 7,000 nearby hotel rooms, as well as the new Lucas Oil Stadium.

McDaniel says about half the funds for a convention come from corporate donors. The price tag of this year's Republican convention was an estimated 82 million dollars.
