On Wednesday morning, Senator Barack Obama will be speaking at Concord High School. As we've been reporting, the presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee is holding a town hall meeting.
All day Tuesday, Obama's advance team was setting up staging, lighting, and audio equipment in Concord High's McCuen Gym. About one-thousand people have tickets for Wednesday's event.
Dan Cunningham, Concord High School's Prinicipal, says the Obama camp called him Friday, asking if they could use his gym. Cunningham says no matter what side of the political fence you're on, it's exciting to host a Presidential candidate.
Newscenter 16 also caught up with local Obama volunteers. Many will be on hand tomorrow to make sure the event runs smoothly. "It's really exciting, I'm part of the change, love to be part of the change, that's why I volunteer," says Karen Pedler, a Michiana Obama volunteer.
"We will put people in position to help when they are coming to the event, help with general security, making sure people can get to seats, easy process in and out," adds Kaliph Shaquel, another Obama volunteer.
"I'm sure we'll be taking pictures, recording this for history and for school. I hope students were able to get some tickets and we'll talk about it with classes this fall," says Cunningham.
Doors open for anyone with tickets at 7:15 a.m. Obama is expected to take the stage around 9:30 a.m. An overflow room has been set up for those who don't have tickets; however, space in that room is limited.
