One week ago Monday, Congressman Joe Donnelly released plans for a 2012 Senate run.
Congressman Donnelly spoke with WNDU Monday for the first time since his announcement and shared the reasons why he decided to run for U.S. Senate.
"It gives me a broader platform to try to work on these issues of jobs, job development for our state” said Donnelly. “We'll be able to help not only north central Indiana, but to work in other parts as well. I've been incredibly blessed to have this chance to serve in Congress and it would be another terrific opportunity to have a chance to serve the rest of our state."
In November, Donnelly barely beat Republican opponent Jackie Walorski for the 2nd District seat.
Political insiders say a Senate run became more attractive after redistricting brought more Republican voters into the already tightly divided 2cd District.
