President Barack Obama is coming back to Northern Indiana for a visit.

The White House said both the President and Vice President Joe Biden will be in Kokomo on Tuesday as part of their “White House to Main Street” tour.

Kokomo was selected because the Recovery Act and the Administration’s auto restructuring plan have helped the city rebound from plant closings and layoffs.

Unemployment has dropped by nearly eight percentage points since mid-2009 and a new hybrid vehicle component manufacturing plant has opened with the help of an $89 million Recovery Act grant.

President Obama’s last visit to Kokomo was in April 2008.

The President and Vice President will fly separately and each will land at Grissom Air Reserve Base in Peru.

This will mark President Obama’s fourth visit to Northern Indiana since he was inaugurated.
