Severe weather forecasting has changed dramatically over the years.

The National Weather “bureau” was established in 1870 during President Ulysses S. Grant’s administration, set up at military stations across the country. Now the technology and science behind forecasting has drastically improved, making it easier for meteorologists and storm trackers to tell you what’s heading your way.
