Hundreds of you entered our 16 Curb Appeal Contest in hopes of winning $5,000 worth of landscaping from Linton's Enchanted Gardens.
Our first finalist is a single mom in Nappanee who is doing all she can to make her house a home for her family.
Junell Stutzman's Nappanee home is filled with family photos. She is a single mother of four who, for years, lived on a farm south of town.
“Between taking care of the animals, chores, we had a garden, we had a little orchard out there. It was really good for the kids to experience that,” she said.
But Junell lost her job, and her new position did not cover the bills. So, she made a tough decision to sell the animals and the farm, and move to town.
“Instead of letting it go back to the bank, we decided to sell it and find something that we could manage,” she said.
“It was hard coming from the farm and the country. It's different in town. Little more noisy, have a lot closer neighbors, but there's positives too. I think we've made it home and everybody's comfortable here,” she explained.
It is a lovely ranch home with a lot of landscaping potential.
If she should win, Junell hopes her landscaping can include a flagpole so that she can fly the marine flag in honor of her son-in-law.
When Josh was in high school, she opened her heart and her home.
“He lost both his parents, so we kind of took him in under our wings when he was a teenager, he ended up falling in love with my middle daughter and they got married. He's been a marine now for three years and stationed in Georgia right now,” she said.
She hopes a colorful, beautiful front yard will welcome her family home.
Voting is underway and continues through Sunday, August 7. You can watch all three stories of our finalists and then vote by clicking here.
The winner will receive $5,000 worth of landscaping from Linton’s.
