If you love a good love story, then you're going to love hearing about the three finalists for our Dream Wedding Contest.
Hundreds of you entered our contest to win $12,000 worth of prizes from local businesses.
From flowers, to tuxes, all the details are covered, but we need viewers to help us pick a winner.
We've narrowed it down to three couples, and in Tuesday's Just Before Six, we're introducing you to the first of the finalists.
From the time Doug Miller and Chelsea Warrick started dating, they knew this was something special.
Doug explains how they hit it off right away, “We clicked we really do.”
Chelsea is an assistant at a veterinary hospital, and Doug is studying to become a pastry chef. After dating for about a year and a half, Doug proposed, with dozens of balloons.
One day last fall, Chelsea came home to a big surprise.
Chelsea, describes the way he proposed to her, “There was a big balloon in my face. I was like um ok, and I looked and there were balloons everywhere! There were little notes on each string. There was one that said I love you because you're beautiful, you're smart, you're funny, you're caring. At the end of the maze there was a bigger balloon, just like the one at the beginning and it said, most of all I love you because you love me. Chelsea Nicole Warrick will you marry me. And then he was on one knee.”
Chelsea said yes, and they immediately started to dream about their wedding, but then life took a different turn.
Doug explains how everything changed, “When I bought her the ring, two weeks later I lost my job.”
Doug managed to find work at a home improvement store, but their wedding savings took a hit. The Dream Wedding Contest would really help them out.
Doug explains how the plans changed after he lost his job, “We were talking about a backyard wedding. Just so we could be married, and then we heard this and it was perfect timing. So we could get married and actually have a wedding.”
These two say for lasting love, there are some secret ingredients.
Chelsea gives some advice on how to not take things for granted, “Live life and don't take things too seriously and don't take things for granted. And love each other. Just be kind.”
