Blue prints shown for 16 Curb Appeal Winners

Any good project starts with a plan, and our 16 Curb Appeal project is no exception.

Before the crew from Linton's Enchanted Gardens digs in to make changes at our winner's historic home, they'll need to follow specific instructions.

The blueprints have been released for the makeover of the Gilkie’s yard.

From flowers, shrubs and trees, the plants are picked and our winners are excited.

“I didn't think it would be nearly as many plants this much variety, and this much color,” says Shundra Gilkie the 16 Curb Appeal winner.

But where do all these plants go? Mark Linton figured it out and shared the blueprints with the Gilkie family.

From tall cypress evergreens at the corners, to a cluster of hens and chick among garden rocks, this plan pulls together a lot of beautiful features.

“It’s so different seeing it on paper, seeing the live plants then you get a real good idea of what it's going to look like,” says Shundra.

The plan calls for roses, hydrangeas and even ornamental grasses to provide blooming color throughout the summer season. Weed control will be helped along by this ground cover, washed river gravel.

“The color tones you see here perfectly match the stones that you see on the front porch,” explains Mark Linton of Linton’s Enchanted Gardens.

As guests approach the front porch, they'll notice urns planted with attractive annuals.

“It's like an enchanted garden as you approach,” says Clinton Gilkie. “As you look at the way you enter the home. It’s like you're not in the same neighborhood.”

“This is going to become the jewel of the neighborhood,” says Mark Linton. “Our goal is to plant the seed and hopefully others will continue this.”

Something new is coming for this very old and special home.

Work is about to get started. Stay with News Center 16 for the next curb appeal update as the transformation begins.
