As the economy continues to lag more and more Americans are seeking unemployment aid.

The Department of Labor says weekly job applications rose by six-thousand last week alone, more than economists had predicted.

The numbers have been steadily rising over the past several months with the four week average reaching 382-thousand.

A trend suggesting Americans are not being hired at a fast pace.

There's also word the consumer price index dropped by zero-point-three percent last month. The biggest decline since December 2008 as gas prices dropped.

However food and energy costs rose zero-point-two percent for a third straight month.
