Forecasters say Tropical Storm Olivia has formed in the eastern Pacific but poses no threat to land.
The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said Saturday evening that Olivia was about 890 miles (1432 kilometers) southwest of the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California peninsula. Maximum sustained winds were at 45 mph (72 kph), and it was moving westward at 12 mph (19 kph).
Olivia is expected to make a northwest turn and decrease in forward speed.
The eastern Pacific hurricane season ends Nov. 30.
