A fight between two neighbors led to one man attacking another with a chainsaw, according to Chicago Police.
Our sister station, WMAQ reports the attack happened on Chicago's South Side in the Washington Heights neighborhood.
Police say 55-year-old Preston Smith and his neighbor were hanging out late into the night when they got into some sort of altercation.
The neighbor pulled out a chainsaw and wound up slicing Smith's neck and hands, nearly slicing off some of the man's fingers.
Smith was taken to the hospital and was listed in stable condition as of Wednesday morning.
Family members told police the two have been friends for a long time, and they believe the two were drinking at the time.
