It is the 8th year, IHOP is celebrating National Pancake Day. The event is to raise awareness and funds for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals across the country. In South Bend, donations go to the program at Riley Hospital for Children, IU Health.
IHOPs across the country are giving folks a free short stack of pancakes from 7 a.m.- 10 p.m. and inviting people to give a voluntary donation to the cause.
In 2012, IHOP served four million free pancakes and people donated more than $3 million to children's charities. All of the free pancakes served on that day, would create a stack nearly 16 miles high. Over the last 8 years, IHOP has raised more than $10 million and given away more than 14 million pancakes to support charities across the nation.
This year, IHOP hopes to raise $3 million with a goal to bring the total amount of funds raised to more than $13 million.
