INDIANAPOLIS Tens of thousands of people are pouring into Indianapolis to show their support for gun rights.
The National Rifle Association is hosting their annual meeting there this weekend. The three day event includes seminars, forums and a concert. It kicks-off with a number of big name speakers at the leadership forum, including Indiana Sen. Dan Coats, Sen, Mitch McConnell, Sen. Marco Rubio and Sen. Rick Santorum. Adam Vinatieri of the Indianapolis colts will also speak.
The meeting will bring a renewed push for a law requiring all fifty states to recognize concealed carry gun permits from other states.
Protests of the event began even before the convention kicked off. Groups like Hoosiers Concerned About Gun Violence gathered Thursday, asking for the NRA’s help in curbing crimes by supporting tighter gun control. Moms Demand Action was also there. It is a grassroots group that formed the day after the Sandy Hook school shooting in Connecticut.
70,000 people are expected at the event.
