An Indiana mother has launched a petition drive to call attention to bullying in hopes that lawmakers will expand the state's anti-bullying law to include online incidents and impose harsh punishment for offenders.
Angela Stagge of Whiteland also is organizing a walk in July to call attention to the issue and is trying to raise money for schools to have more anti-bullying programs and training.
Stagge tells The Indianapolis Star (http://indy.st/Mwa0gn ) that her 15-year-old daughter, Chelsea Little, was repeatedly bullied at Clark-Pleasant Schools.
School officials say they take steps to prevent bullying and harassment.
Democratic state Rep. Greg Porter of Indianapolis says he plans to introduce changes to the bullying law next year. A similar effort failed to get a hearing this year.
