Republicans are pointing to 9.1 percent unemployment despite the infusion of billions of dollars in stimulus money as evidence something different needs to be done to create jobs.
In the weekly GOP radio and Internet address, Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois recalled the administration promise that unemployment would go no higher than 8 percent.
He says Obama administration promises "haven't panned out" and that things have actually gotten worse.
Kinzinger sounded familiar GOP job creating themes, saying the government needs to reduce debt, simplify the tax code and limit
He also says Washington needs to pass free-trade agreements with Colombia, Panama and South Korea, and boost domestic energy production.
