WASHINGTON (AP) - In the hunt for campaign money, no distance is too far to travel, especially in the tight race between President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney.
Obama and his Republican challenger are aggressively courting Americans living abroad at fundraisers held far beyond U.S. shores. The practice is legal and has been used for decades.
Romney held a pair of fundraisers last week in London and has another scheduled on Monday in Jerusalem. In May, Romney was beamed into a Hong Kong conference room by videoconference to raise money from Americans living in Asia.
Obama hasn't yet attended overseas fundraisers, but his campaign is holding them without him.
Next month, actor George Clooney will headline a high-priced Obama fundraiser in Geneva, Switzerland. Others have taken place in Shanghai, Paris and London.
