CHICAGO (AP) - A man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of an alleged prostitute at a high-end Chicago hotel.
Lamarcus Washington of Chicago is charged in the Aug. 14 death of 22-year-old Brianna Gardner. Authorities say records indicate the woman was a resident of Dallas. The woman was found shot to death in a room of the Whitehall Hotel, which is located steps from Michigan Ave., Chicago's premiere shopping district.
Authorities say although no weapon has been found, Washington's cellphone was discovered in the same room as the victim's body.
At the time of his arrest, Washington was in custody for a parole violation.
Police say Gardner was arrested a week before her death on a misdemeanor prostitution charge after being observed soliciting sex from motorists and pedestrians.
