Officials confirmed the death of a pilot whose plane crashed at a West Virginia air show on Saturday. His identity has not yet been released.
The crash occurred well away from the spectator area at the National Guard airbase where the event was held. Fireworks that were to be set off Saturday night after the show were destroyed and Sunday performances have also been canceled.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the plane was a single engine 7-28 built in 1958 and registered to John Mangan of Concord, North Carolina. It was part of the T-28 Warbird Aerobatic Formation Demonstration Team, which performs air shows around the country.
N-T-S-B investgators will be on site Sunday to conduct an accident investigation.
