Church services are being held in Britain and Portugal Saturday to mark the anniversary of Madeleine McCann's disappearance.

The British girl vanished one year ago while on vacation with her family in Portugal, a few days before her fourth birthday.

Madeleine's parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, walked hand in hand to a church service near their home in Rothley, central England.

The girl's uncle, John McCann, and other family members flew to Portugal to attend an evening service at a beachside chapel in the resort town where she disappeared.

Madeleine's parents returned to England in September, after Portuguese police named them as suspects in her disappearance.

A Portuguese man has also been named a suspect. All three deny any involvement.

A top police official in Portugal says investigators are still gathering evidence and have not decided whether to file charges, or drop the case.
