A single fingerprint and a trace of blood places American student Amanda Knox in the Italian apartment where her British roommate was murdered.

That comes from an Italian news agency, which quotes from an investigator's report.

Knox is the 20-year-old college student from Seattle who has acknowledged that she was home the night Meredith Kercher was killed by a knife wound to the neck. At one point, Knox told investigators she had to cover her ears to drown out Kercher's screams.

Lawyers in the case have previously said both Knox and Kercher's DNA were found on a knife they believe may have been used to kill the woman. It was found at the home of Knox's former boyfriend, who is Italian.

Knox, the ex-boyfriend and another man have been detained in the case. They've all denied killing Kercher.
