The U.S. military say seven American soldiers were wounded yesterday when a female suicide bomber blew herself up near an American patrol northeast of Baghdad.
The attack happened near Baqouba, the capital of Diyala province. Five Iraqi civilians also were wounded but no one besides the bomber was killed.
Attacks by women in Iraq are rare, but are not unprecedented.
Meanwhile, more Iraqis are returning to Baghdad, heartened by reports of a lull in violence in the capital. A bus convoy carrying more than 800 people is expected to arrive today from Damascus, Syria. One man returning with his family says he wants to give it a try, but he says if he finds it's still dangerous, he'll leave again.
