New Jersey authorities say they don't know the cause of a fire that broke out at a pig farm, killing nearly 1,000 animals.

The fire spread through three barns and took some seven hours to extinguish.

Because the barns had metal roofs and siding, a fire official in Southampton says it would've been like an oven.

Hundreds of pigs kept in one barn died in the flames, and others had to be euthanized because of smoke inhalation.
