A senior Israeli intelligence official says Iran could have nuclear weapons in two years if its nuclear ambitions aren't curbed.
The head of research for military intelligence has warned lawmakers that Iran has been getting steadily closer to developing a weapon. A participant in the closed session quoted the official as saying that "the worst-case scenario is that by the end of 2009, Iran will have a nuclear weapon."
Iran insists its nuclear program is peaceful, but the U.S. and others are skeptical. The program has especially rattled Israel because Iran's president has repeatedly called for the Jewish state's destruction.
