School officials in Florida say a teacher has been shot outside a Miami-area high school during an apparent robbery.
A spokesman for Miami-Dade County Public Schools says the teacher's injuries are not life-threatening.
The spokesman says the teacher had been taking a cigarette break across the street from the school during lunch when he was confronted by another man who tried to rob him. The teacher was shot in the lower body, and was said to be alert as he was transported to a hospital.
The spokesman says no students inside the school were injured. Carol City elementary, middle and senior high schools were placed on lockdown.
