Civil rights attorney suffering after Imus’ return

It is one of the many ironies about Don Imus losing his job for racist statements and getting it back months later.

The man who Imus is replacing on the airwaves in New York is a civil rights attorney. And to add to the irony, Ron Kuby was one of the few people who went on the air to urge that Imus not be fired, even though he condemned the remarks about the Rutgers women's basketball team.

Kuby was the lawyer who, in 1996, won a 43 million dollar judgment against subway gunman Bernie Goetz. The money was for a young black man who was left paralyzed by the highly-publicized 1984 shooting.
