A dormitory matron at Oprah Winfrey's school for girls in South Africa is free on bail.
The woman, Tiny Virginia Makopo, says she is innocent of charges that she abused students at the school that opened earlier this year.
She did not enter a formal plea at today's bail hearing.
The hearing came hours before the talk show host is expected to answer questions about the investigation in a satellite teleconference with reporters in South Africa.
The school has hired private detectives to investigate, and reported allegations to the South African police.
Winfrey opened the school in January. It was the fulfillment of a promise she made to Nelson Mandela and aims to give 152 girls from deprived backgrounds a quality education
