Vice President Dick Cheney is going hunting today.

Cheney will have a shotgun in hand when he goes on an outing at a hunting club in New York's Hudson River Valley.

Cheney's been the butt of many late-night talk show jokes since accidentally shooting a friend while hunting in Texas last year.

Harry Whittington suffered wounds to the torso, neck and face and spent several days in the hospital after the shooting in February 2006.

Cheney called the mishap "one of the worst days" of his life.

The vice president has been hunting at least a couple of times since the accident.
