In Hawaii, hundreds are fleeing inland from suspected arson fires burning along the coast of the Big Island.
Officials say no homes have been damaged and no one has been injured. But there are concerns the fires could approach residential areas with a change of wind.
Nine fires appear to have been set in dry grasses along coastal roads early Sunday. The evacuation order affected an estimated 500 people.
A Civil Defense official says the fires were apparently started in a coordinated effort by motorists who lit dry grasses.
