An excavator driver found a body while working in a southeast Michigan landfill.

The Detroit Free Press and WXYZ-TV report that the body was found early Tuesday afternoon in Riverview, about 15 miles southwest of Detroit.

Investigators say household demolition material had been dumped in the area where the body was found. Police are not sure if the body is that of a man or woman, or how the person died. An autopsy is planned by the Wayne County medical examiner's office.

The body of a 38-year-old Canadian man was found last June in a landfill in Genesee County's Montrose Township, about 70 miles northwest of Detroit.

Authorities suspect his body arrived in a shipment of Canadian garbage.
