Authorities say a 43-year-old man has died after falling through a skylight at West Michigan foundry where he was working.

Oceana County sheriff's Lt. Craig Mast tells MLive.com that Kevin W. Dilts of Muskegon was working for a subcontractor at the Rothbury Steel plant in Rothbury when the accident happened Wednesday morning.

Mast says Dilts was taking pictures and measurements on the roof when he apparently slipped and fell backward through the skylight. The fall was about 30 feet.

The sheriff's department says it's investigating.
